Come one, come all, and let Aunt Polly regale you with yet another tale of mystery, intrigue, and Teflon-coated cookware. In other words, it's time for another installment of Paulina Daly's Kitchen (Mis)Adventures.
On today's episode, I'm getting ready to make a pot of pasta. I fill up the saucepan with water from the tap and stick it on the stove to bring it to a boil. I think, oh, it'll be a few minutes before it really gets bubbling, and the living room's connected to the kitchen anyway, I have time to see what's on TV while I wait. So I go over and I turn on the TV, and promptly forget about my pot. For the next forty-five minutes.
It wasn't until I started to smell something akin to burning that I remembered, oh yeah, I was going to cook wasn't I? So I went over to the kitchen and found a really hot and really empty saucepan sitting on the stove.
In short, I failed to boil a pot of water. Go me.
P.S. Lots, don't worry about the saucepan. There are some black marks on the bottom, but it's still good. |

So I just signed up for this salsa dancing class, only I didn't realize that it would probably be a good idea to get a partner first. And I probably should have thought about that, or else I'd risk winding up with some creepy old guy who likes the meringue too much. But it actually turned out there weren't enough guys to go around, so I wound up playing the lead to some middle-aged Asian lady from Queens.
And I think you might be able to tell where this post is going. So, gentlemen of Crossover! Anyone want to be my dance partner? Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00, runs for an hour, and we can go out for drinks afterward, if you're up to it. Any takers? |
